Frequently Asked Questions
Are you certified, licensed or accredited?
Our programs are certified and licensed. We have applied for accreditation by CARF, which is a national certification entity, which ensures a program’s commitment to quality services.
I have heard about the bracelets and patches for monitoring alcohol & drug use. If a client is required to wear these can you help?
Yes. We have both options available as adjuncts to maintain sobriety.
Can you help with court if needed?
Yes. We provide court liaison, letters to the court, pre-sentencing evaluations requested by law firms, and can help with alternative sentencing recommendations, reports and follow-up.
Can a client get housing and treatment at different levels of intensity?
Yes. We offer sober living, chemical dependency residential and monitored work release, chemical dependency day treatment, and chemical dependency outpatient services. We offer very flexible program design for clients.
Do you use objective “national standards” to determine diagnosis and level of care?
Yes. We use the Diagnosis and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria for the Treatment of Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders (ASAM). Both are recognized national standards criteria for assessment and placement of clients.
Will there be charge for assessment?
Yes. All costs are explained before any services are rendered.
Will I know before I begin my care exactly what my financial obligation is?
Absolutely. We will not begin treatment until we agree on the type and duration of your care and payment arrangements are made and agreed to in writing.
Are there any other costs?
There are material fees for books, booklets etc. but they are nominal and the client gets these at our cost.
Do I have a co-pay and if so when do I make it?
Co-pay requirements vary by insurer. If you have a co-pay it is due at time services are rendered.
How long is the program?
Expedition House programs are open ended. This is because we deal with many different referral sources and contractors who have different requirements for their clients. As example, the courts have different requirements than Managed Care. The key is flexibility and designing a personal program for each and every client.
What if a client doesn’t like AA/NA meetings and sponsorship does the client have to go?
It is our philosophy, that community support will be necessary for lasting recovery. We are flexible in helping clients find alternatives to 12-Step and sponsorship if it is needed but as augmentation, not replacement for 12-Step while in the program. AA works. Their track record of success is 63 years in the making.
Can my family attend treatment?
Absolutely. We are strong proponents of family care. |
